In an April 20th interview appearing in the Czech portal IDNES.cz (subscription required), stage designer Jan Vlasák confirmed that Ondřej Nekvasil serves as production designer for Amazon’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time series. He was answering a question about Czech scenographers being recognized Internationally.
In a chat with The Dusty Wheel Show on Youtube on March 27th, show consultant Sarah Nakamura mentioned “Andre” or “Ondrej” as production designer. Reddit user OpeningShopping8 picked up on that at the time and guessed, successfully we now know, that Ondřej Nekvasil was the production designer in question, thanks to the confirmation by Jan Vlasák.
Per his imdb listing, Nekvasil worked on movies such as The Illusionist (2006), Snowpiercer (2013) and Underworld: Blood Wars (2016), with some of his most recent work in TV including Knightfall (2017–2018) and Krypton (2018). In total, resume includes 20 movies and 11 television series.
Ondřej won an Emmy award for Outstanding Art Direction For A Miniseries, Movie or Special in 2001 for Anne Frank on ABC. He also won the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Art Direction and the Grand Bell Award for Best Art Direction for the movie Snowpiercer in 2013.
