The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video released character posters from the main cast.
You can scroll through the posters below, and click on them to enlarge:
The official account shared downloadable high resolution versions of the posters on Twitter. From these downloaded files, Twitter user @lynx_time discovered that there was a hidden layer which contained an overlay of weaves for each of the posters.
Other Twitter users then pointed out that the weave posters fit together to form a pattern.
According to the official show account on Twitter, these posters were designed by Studio Ronin.
I am a long time fantasy fan. Also a technology generalist with a knack for research. That likely makes me a Brown, but I'm more torn between the Yellows and the Blues.
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills.
Cant wait. Let’s hope it does justice to the arguably greatest fantasy series of all time. Vale Robert Jordan, you would have been proud of this recognition.
So, will the Seanchan have white people from their native continent? Probably not! Equality does not apply to everyone. Just so long as the right people are placated, who cares if the story is destroyed!
There were many light skinned seanchan. It’s two massive continents.
There were also a full range of tones in the books. Tariens are very dark. Borderlands are Asian inspired.
The only difference here is the 2 rivers who were all whiteish but not ginger pale.
Doesn’t seem too big a change.
One thing bothered me in a recent trailer, Moiraine says that the chosen one is one of the five. Not certain why this bothers me, just does.
Also in a trailer they show Lan an Moiraine enter, what appears to be, the Two Rivers village inn and announce themselves like OG gangsters. The total opposite of how Moiraine operates.
To some this might seem trivial, I’ve been reading the series since the mid 90s, so it’s a big deal to me.
Moiraine knows it’s one of the boys, she’s isn’t lying when she says, “one of the five of you.” I’m hoping the show is chock full of Aes Sedai double speak, and I hope this is an example.
I think these posters are our best evidence yet that some people will be able to see the weaves and some won’t. I look forward to seeing how the show handles that, and we should have our answer by the end of the first episode.
