Happy 2022! To kick off the new year, we have a couple more cast and some rumored roles to report. We do want to issue a minor spoiler warning as we will be discussing potential characters and plot lines that may show up in season 2!

New Cast Members

Raquel Cipriano

According to her CV, Raquel Cipriano (pictured left, above) will be playing a Novice in an episode directed by Thomas Napper, likely placing her in episode 1 or 2 of season 2. Cipriano is a Portuguese actress based in the UK who has played a number of small roles in television and film.

Marie-France Alvarez

English actress Marie-France Alvarez (pictured right, above) has been cast in the role of Celestin. Her credits include numerous roles in film, television, and theater. She most recently appeared in the French television series Louis XXVIII. You can also spot her in Vice short film The Paris Project, currently available to watch for free.

Since Alvarez has a named part, instead of “Yellow Sister,” this likely means she’ll have a small but significant role similar to Maigan (Sandy McDade) in season 1. In the books, Celestin Eguilera is an Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah who first appears in Winter’s Heart. She could be an Aes Sedai that instructs Nynaeve and Egwene at the White Tower, or possibly a Seanchan damane.

Speculated Roles

We’ve also received information indicating the roles “Suroth” and “Turak” are likely to appear in season 2. In the books, both these characters are high-ranking Seanchan leading the invasion at Falme. While their presence in season 2 shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering the events of The Great Hunt, it’s still fun to see some additional confirmation.

Other Season Two Cast

Finally, since our last casting update, we discovered confirmation that Sophie Okonedo will be returning as Siuan Sanche for season 2. She will be joining the other cast expected to return from season one, including (but not limited to): Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred), Daniel Henney (Lan Mandragoran), Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al’Meara), Kate Fleetwood (Liandrin Guirale), Priyanka Bose (Alanna Mosvani), Taylor Napier (Maksim), Emmanuel Imani (Ihvon), Jennifer Cheon Garcia (Leane Sharif), Hammed Animashaun (Loial), Kae Alexander (Min Farshaw), Guy Roberts (Uno Nomesta), and Fares Fares (“The Dark One”)

The following actors have also been officially announced to  be joining the cast in season 2: Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Natasha O’Keeffe in an unknown role, Meera Syal in an unknown role, Arnas Fedaravičius as Masema Dagar, and Gregg Chillingirian as Ingtar Shinowa,

Other cast expected to appear in season two, but whom have not been officially confirmed are: Gary Beadle in an unknown role, Salle Salée in an unknown role, Will Tudor as Barthanes, Haruka Kuroda as Min’s Aunt, Natasha Jayahendry in an unknown role, Laura Crowhust in an unknown role, Melissa James as Elnore Snr, and Jessica Boone in an unknown role. We also suspect Karima McAdams is part of the cast, though this is only speculation on our part.

As a refresher, filming for season 2 is ongoing and will reportedly wrap in February or March 2022. We can’t wait to get some more official season 2 casting. What cast announcement are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments!
