Back in July of 2021, it was reported that Gary Beadle had a role in The Wheel of Time. His status as a cast member for season one was unknown at the time, but as we previously reported, Beadle was in Prague in August, which meant a season two role was likely. Now that season one has come and gone, we know the role will be first appearing in season two.
I just noticed this interaction between #TheWheelOfTime season two actors Arnas Fedaravičius and Gary Beadle on one of Arnas' IG posts. Could the 🐺 emoji be a hint about Gary's character?@celticmyst08 has been guessing that Gary is Elyas. Is she right?! 🤔 #TwitterOfTime pic.twitter.com/Su0qYdgIj2

In January, we noticed a social media interaction between Beadle and another season two actor, Arnas Fedaravičius, and speculated that perhaps Fedaravičius’ response of multiple wolfhead emoji might be a clue that Beadle’s role in season two was that of Elyas Machera, a character who readers first met in the first book The Eye of the World but did not appear in season one of the Prime Video adaptation.
Thanks to an update to the actor’s CV, we can now confirm that Beadle’s role in season two will indeed be that of Elyas. We do not know how many episodes we can expect the actor to appear in.
Beadle currently has over 70 credits in his resume, including roles in theatre, films, and television. One of his more recent roles is a part in award-winning mini-series Small Axe, available to watch on Prime Video. You can also check out his showreel here.
What do you hope to see from Elyas in season two? Let us know in the comments below!
Lover of fantasy and other geeky goodness.
Of course his story in the show will have nothing to do with his story in the book
Really enjoyed him as Bass Reeves in Around the World in 80 days.
Totally don’t care. Amazon wasted a ton of money to create this abomination.
Seriously, why pay for the rights to a beloved series then take a giant turd on the source material.
Rafe Judkins was never qualified for the job, but I gave it a chance. This comes across like a b level syndicated tv show like the seeker or Hercules … He should be removed asap to try and salvage this.
I, for one, am excited to see where the show goes. I love the cast and am very pleased with the representation of many of the characters. I think the show needs more episodes to have room for the story to breathe.
It’s hard to get excited over any new developments in WOT. The show adds people/events liberally and skips important parts with abandon. I get *some* creative license to move the story along, but there was plenty of source material in the first book to make a compelling first season. PLEN-TY. And why on Earth would you skimp on getting the Ogier look right when you didn’t on the trollocs? Ogiers are mistaken for trollocs because they look similar. This version of Loial is lazy at best. Ugh never mind. I’ve given up any hope of this bearing any resemblance to the books, both in story and casting.
This is not how Elyas look in my head. Therefore it is awful *tantrum thrown*.
No, but really, the castings this far has been ranging from great to amazing imo.
I’m sure this Will be as well. Tai’shar Judkins!
