Last week, we shared that Laia Costa was cast for a season two role, and this week, we have even more exciting casting news for you. According to his CV, Julian Lewis Jones will be joining season two of The Wheel of Time in the role of Bayle Domon.
Julian Lewis Jones
Jones is a Welsh actor who trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is best known for his roles in the movies Invictus, The Eagle, and Justice League, but he has also had numerous roles in television, film, and on the stage, spanning as far back as 1997. He was in Prague for about a week at the end of July, and was recently in Marrakech, Morocco for about a week.
Bayle Domon is a character who first appears in The Eye of the World, but has a much more prominent role in the second book, The Great Hunt. The character’s appearance was cut from the first season of Prime Video’s adaptation, but fans will likely be relieved to see his role in the battle against the Dark One starting from season two.
Season Two Cast
Jones will join an ever-expanding lineup of returning cast and new season two roles. Returning cast includes (but is not limited to): Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred), Daniel Henney (Lan Mandragoran), Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al’Meara), Kate Fleetwood (Liandrin Guirale), Sophie Okonedo (Siuan Sanche), Álvaro Morte (Logain Ablar), Priyanka Bose (Alanna Mosvani), Taylor Napier (Maksim), Emmanuel Imani (Ihvon), Jennifer Cheon Garcia (Leane Sharif), Hammed Animashaun (Loial), Kae Alexander (Min Farshaw), Guy Roberts (Uno Nomesta), Alexander Karim, and Fares Fares (“The Dark One”).
Since the start of season two production, the following actors have also been officially announced to be joining the cast: Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Natasha O’Keeffe in an unknown role, Meera Syal in an unknown role, Arnas Fedaravičius as Masema Dagar, and Gregg Chillingirian as Ingtar Shinowa.
And in case you need a refresher on unconfirmed or speculated cast: Gary Beadle (Elyas Machera), Salle Salée (unknown role), Will Tudor (Barthanes), Haruka Kuroda (Min’s Aunt), Natasha Jayahendry (unknown role), Laura Crowhust (unknown role), Melissa James (Elnore Snr), Jessica Boone (unknown role), Raquel Cipriano (novice), Marie-France Alvarez (Celestin), Stewart Kenneth Moore (Stable Master), and Laia Costa (“Magdelena”) We also suspect Karima McAdams, Ragga Ragnars, Ayoola Smart, Jay Duffy, and Xelia Mendes-Jones are part of the cast, though this is still speculation.
This is quite an impressive list of cast, but The Wheel of Time is known for its vast amount of characters. We anticipate that the final season two cast list will be much longer. While we can expect that not all of the books characters will make the cut, we can’t wait for official casting news to see which of our favorites we can look forward to seeing on the small screen!
Lover of fantasy and other geeky goodness.
This do be the best news I’ve heard all week!
Casting Domon is not enough! We must have confirmation of the accent…we must! Great find as always.
Well, he’s Welsh, and says he does accents. Both literally and figuratively bordering on the West Country that film pirate accent is based on. I would probably take his natural Welsh accent just as well and maybe better than an exaggerated pirate accent.
Fortune prick me, this do be great news!
Why is Mat being recast?
The actor left the show for unknown reasons.
By my aged grandmother this is welcome news. I do be looking forward to season 2! And I just want the piratey goodness. I do no care if it might be cheeseball. I do want it anyway.
