For the first time since 2019, San Diego Comic Con is back this year as an in-person event. While Prime Video is focusing their marketing on the upcoming Rings of Power television show, there was some excitement to be had for fans of The Wheel of Time in a form of a panel focusing on The Wheel of Time Origins.
The panel had the following description on the Comic Con Program:
The Wheel of Time: Origins is the animated digital short companion series to hit, fantasy epic The Wheel of Time on Prime Video. The Wheel of Time: Origins brings fans deeper into the lore of The Wheel of Time and its vast history and subjects. The creative team and a surprise guest behind The Wheel of Time: Origins treat fans to a deep dive conversation into the making of this beloved companion series, along with an exclusive special video presentation that promises to deliver some Comic-Con magic to attendees.
Prior to the event, it was announced on The Wheel of Time’s social media accounts that the panel would feature producer Mike Weber, writer Rammy Park, showrunner Rafe Judkins, and actor Daniel Henney (Lan Mandragoran). While the team has had to remain tight-lipped as ever, Rammy Park did tease “Can you even with our surprise guests @rafejudkins @danielhenney?? We must have something fun to share…”
Also on the panel was Wheel of Time Origins producer Craig Muller.
Comic Con Exclusive Preview
Thanks to the reporting of Wheel of Time fan Katie, we know that as a treat for Comic Con attendees, an episode of Origins focusing on Malkier debuted during the panel.

Season Three Renewal
And finally, Rafe revealed that the series has been picked up for a third season. In an article from Hollywood Reporter, Rafe is quoted as saying: “I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of The Wheel of Time. The Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago.”
Rafe and writer Rammy Park plan to head to London soon to write season three with the rest of the writers room.
