In just over two months, The Wheel of Time will return with season 2 on September 1. In the meantime, fans are waiting anxiously for the official teaser trailer and more news about the long-awaited season. Last week, we brought you the scoop about the role Natasha O’Keeffe will be playing in the show. This week, we can share another scoop that actor Lindsay Duncan will be appearing in season 2 of The Wheel of Time.

Duncan is an Edinburgh-born actor who began her long careers in the 1970s and currently has over 100 credits to her name. Across her career, she has won numerous awards, including two Laurence Olivier Awards and a Tony Award for her stage work, and has been nominated for even more, including three BAFTA nominations and one Scottish BAFTA nomination. She has worked on films and television series spanning several genres, and she is no stranger to fantasy as some of her recent works include A Discovery of Witches and His Dark Materials.

An interview with The Sunday Post reveals that in 2021, Duncan was filming The Wheel of Time in Prague prior to returning home for the Christmas holidays. According to information on a vendor’s website, Lindsay Duncan will be playing the role of Anvaere. In the novels, Anvaere Damodred is one of Moiraine’s older sisters “who cared for nothing but hawking and horses and had a terrible temper” (Jordan, Robert, et al. The Wheel of Time Companion: The People, Places, and History of the Bestselling Series, Kindle, 67). While she is only mentioned in the books and is not someone we meet in person, we’re guessing that she will play a role in Moiraine’s story in the second season, as we know that Moiraine will be returning to Cairhien at some point in her journey.

We anticipate that season 2 will be full of surprises while also adapting the story beloved to book fans, and we’ll be sure to report the news when that first teaser trailer drops!
