Late Tuesday on August 1, fans of The Wheel of Time noticed a surprise hidden in season 1, episode 8: a preview of season 2. Today, Prime Video announced that the special sneak peek was the first scene of season 2.

As stated in the official press release for this preview, “this sneak peek of the new season reflects the structure of the best-selling and epic The Wheel of Time book series by Robert Jordan, on which the Amazon Original series is based, where at the end of each novel, Jordan would add the first chapter of the next book as a preview. ”

The scene is the opening from the first episode of season two, and “it is an adaptation of the fan favorite ‘Darkfriend Social’ prologue of the second novel of Jordan’s series, The Great Hunt, upon which Season Two is largely based.” The scene starts 54 minutes and 40 seconds into episode 8.

Additionally, an “Official Season 1 Recap” covering 5 things to remember from season 1 was released through IGN today. Filmed before the SAG-AFTRA strike, series regulars Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred), Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Dónal Finn (Mat Cauthon), and Ceara Coveney (Elayne Trakand), cover key points viewers need to remember from season 1 before the next season premieres.
