WotSeries has learned of more actors set to appear in season 3 of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time: Clare Dunne, Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, Clare-Hope Ashitey, and Robert Strange. None of these actors have been confirmed by production, and the roles of all four actors are unknown at this time.

Clare Dunne

Clare Dunne recently won an Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Award for Lead Actress in a Drama for her work on the series Kin. However, during last year’s IFTA awards in May 2023, it was revealed to Goss.ie that she was shooting a “little role on Wheel of Time for Amazon.”

Her exact role on the show is unknown, as any more details beyond her involvement have been kept under wraps. Considering her early involvement in season 3 — which began filming on April 17, 2023, just three weeks before the interview with Goss.ie — it’s possible that Dunne might be involved in the “bonkers” opening 15 minutes of the third season recently referenced by showrunner Rafe Judkins. This is, however, just a guess.

Dunne is an actor from Dublin, Ireland, who graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff, in 2009. She has had numerous stage roles at the Abbey Theatre and the National Theatre. In 2000, she starred in Herself, a movie she also co-wrote. She was nominated for several awards for her work on the movie as both an actress and a screenwriter. When Kin debuted in 2021, Dunne became one of the most recognizable stars on Irish television. Most recently, Dunne can be seen in the movie Small Things Like These.

Salóme Gunnarsdóttir

Salóme Gunnarsdóttir is an Icelandic actor and voice actor. She is probably best known to international audiences for her role as Patricia Wayne in the series Pennyworth and for her voicework in video game series Final Fantasy XIV and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

It’s unknown how much time Gunnarsdóttir spent filming in Prague, but she did film in South Africa, according to her agency. As much of the filming in South Africa was related to the Aiel Waste or Tanchico, it’s likely that her role is that of an Aiel or an Aes Sedai.

Clare-Hope Ashitey

Clare-Hope Ashitey is a British actor who received numerous award nominations for her role in the movie Children of Men, one of her first film roles. She has since gone on to work on a variety of television shows and movies, including Suspects, Seven Seconds, and Constellation. She recently filmed the second season of Funny Woman, a Sky comedy that also welcomed Perrin’s actor Marcus Rutherford amongst its season 2 cast.

Ashitey’s role is unknown, but she was in Prague in May of 2023 and shared to social media pictures taken in 2023 of herself with Shohreh Agdashloo and Salóme Gunnarsdóttir. While fans are likely to use this information to speculate on her role, we do want to note that taking pictures together does not mean that Ashitey’s role is related to the role of both the other women.

Robert Strange

Robert Strange (also known as Robert Nairne) is an actor, creature performer, and voice artist. He’s had roles in five Star Wars movies and is the actor who portrays Hondo Ohnaka in the Smuggler’s Run ride in Galaxy’s Edge. He was also Lurka in season 1 of Prime Video’s Rings of Power and was one of the Wrarth Warriors in the Dr. Who 60th Anniversary Special: The Star Beast. He has been working on a confidential Amazon Prime Video project according to his CV.

Though it’s easy to assume Strange might be playing a role that requires prosthetics, the actor also has had many non-creature roles. At 6’5″ (195.6 cm), the actor may also be playing one of the many tall characters that inhabit Robert Jordan’s world.

Season 3 Unofficial Cast

These four actors join an ever-increasing list of actors we anticipate for the next season of The Wheel of Time. We recapped all the actors known to us back in April, and since then, we also revealed that Nukâka Coster-Waldau, Björn Landberg, Synnøve Macody Lund, and Thandi Sebe were added to the cast for season 3. While we’ll have to wait for the season to be released to know for sure, it appears that season 3 is shaping up to be the largest one yet in terms of cast. Given how beloved the story of The Shadow Rising is, we can’t wait to see all these actors breathing life into some of the series’ most iconic scenes!
