The wait is almost over! The Wheel of Time dropped an action-packed teaser trailer at CCXP24 for its highly anticipated third season. Based on Robert Jordan’s best selling series, the TV show will return globally on Prime Video on March 13, 2025. The announcement was made during a panel held on the Thunder Stage at CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil, featuring showrunner Rafe Judkins and cast members Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere) and Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor).
The teaser sets the tone for season 3 as an adaptation of The Shadow Rising, a confrontation between those who walk in the Light against the forces of the Shadow. One of the opening lines, narrated by Sophie Okonedo (Siuan Sanche), makes that clear: “Who knows how deep the shadow’s roots have taken hold here”. “Here” is likely Tar Valon, where we witness Aes Sedai fighting Aes Sedai in a bloody Saidar-charged brawl. The stakes are raised even higher with a chilling line from Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred): “I have seen a thousand thousand futures and every future where I lived Rand dies, and the only way he lives is if I don’t.”
The teaser also hints at all the mounting tensions: a divided White Tower, the resurgence of the Black Ajah, and a likely pursuit of the Dragon by the Forsaken. Among these forces, Lanfear’s complex relationship with Rand is pivotal, can she succeed in drawing him to her side?
A New Focus: The Aiel Waste Storyline
To varying degrees, the teaser covers the four major storylines we expect to see in season 3, taking place in The Aiel Waste, Tar Valon, Tanchico and the Two Rivers. The events in the Aiel Waste seem to dominate somewhat; this isn’t surprising since that is where Moiraine and Rand are expected to spend considerable time, and sooner or later we do expect Rand’s growing power to usher in a passing of the baton from Moiraine.
This prominence of Moiraine and Rand in the trailer gives us various looks at the world of the Aiel and their Three Fold Land, including a gorgeous shot of Rhuidean to open the trailer. Most of the shots of familiar places from seasons past are from Tar Valon and the White Tower. However, we do get minor glimpses of Tanchico and the Two Rivers.

Fan Service
This teaser is sure to thrill any fan of The Wheel of Time show. For those who have also read the book series, it feels like a dream wishlist being fulfilled. It crams so much into these 60 seconds that every “Wow, I can’t believe they’ve included that” is immediately followed by “Wait, there’s more!” Rhuidean as the first shot? You have my attention. Age of Legends? Check. Veils in Tanchico? Check. Egwene Accepted test? Yes please. Lan and Rand sword training? Thank the Light! Avendesora, glass columns, Alcair Dal? Check, check and check. Shirtless Galad? Okay, I’ll stop here, but you get the idea.
We briefly see Perrin in armor as the only glimpse into the Battle of the Two Rivers. We do hope that the official trailer leans more into that storyline. With that said, we appreciated how the first shot in the teaser is of Rand and Moiraine looking down at Rhuidean, and the last shot is a likely emergence of Rand carrying Moiraine from the same legendary Aiel city.
Actors and Characters in the Trailer
We were able to identify the following characters in the trailer, some with less certainty than others (by order of appearance counts): Rand (Josha Stradowski), Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), Lan (Daniel Henney), Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Elayne (Ceara Coveney), Alanna (Priyanka Bose), Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), Nynaeve (Zöe Robins), Mat (Dónal Finn), Moghedien (Laia Costa), Couladin (unknown), Rhuarc (unknown), Nyomi (Rachel Denning), Leane (Jennifer Cheon-Garcia), Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), Maksim (Taylor Napier), Ihvon (Anthony Kaye), Galad (Callum Kerr), Min (Kae Alexander), Faile (unknown), Shaiel (Magdalena Šittová).
Some of the prominent characters and groups missing from the trainer: Elaida, Loial, Bain and Chiad, the White Cloaks, the Traveling People, and new Forsaken.
We Found the Song
If you are wondering about the song used for the teaser, with the eerily relevant lyric, it’s a slow cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s A Hazy Shade Of Winter.
Time, time time, see what’s become of me
Weaving time in a tapestry
This might not be The Song, but it is a great song and a wonderful choice for this teaser.
What’s Next
With the release set for March 13th 2025, we expect to see a full trailer in February of 2025, along with a ramp-up in engagement from the show and its cast. There’s still an outstanding question about the release cadence of the show. Will it follow the same pattern as seasons 1 and 2 of 3+1+1+1+1+1, or will Prime Video alter the pattern?
I will end this piece on a personal note. One of my absolute favorite storylines from any story of any genre is Rand’s journey in time through the history of the Aiel. That we are only a couple of months away from that being on our screens seems surreal. I am certain that I am only one of very many bursting with expectation and excitement to finally witness this:
Rand’s feet moved of their own accord. Forward. And back in time — Robert Jordan

Really BAD trailer. Does not make me want to watch the next season. Useless.
Ok bot 👍🏼
Wow I would love to hear what u think is a good teaser trailer! I thought this was amazing and the trailer after even better!
I loved the trailer! I miss Thom though and I wish Loial were included too.
Can’t wait
The song selection is correct. It’s Hazy Shade of Winter, but the one used is not the original version but Simon & Garfunkel but the version by The Bangles.
So it’s – Hazy Shade of Winter by The Bangles (slightly altered by Prime)
Amazing, can’t wait!

The trailer highlights a lot of the plots we’ve been waiting to see from one of the best books in the series, and it continues to look amazing.
