The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass. And, in one month and one day, season 3 of The Wheel of Time will release on Prime Video. On December 7, 2024, called the First Age by some, Prime Video released a one-minute long teaser. The teaser was not the beginning of fan excitement, but it was a beginning.

And today, fans were treated to a full trailer, reminding fans of all the memories and moments we know will turn into legend, but not forgotten, when season 3 releases! Here are some moments that stood out to us from the trailer.

Smiles

Perrin smiling

We were smiling alongside Perrin, Mat, and Rand, clicking mugs in what we think is Tar Valon. Perrin’s golden-eyed smile and laugh remind us of the deep connections between the boys and make us hope for a few more moments of joy for the Emond’s Fielders.

Shredding

Aes Sedai wearing white, yellow, blue, and grey attacking Siuan and Leane in the Hall of the Tower

As we wait impatiently for the opening to season 3, the trailer gives us more glimpses into the magical battle in the White Tower. We see Liandrin suspended in weaves in the Hall, Aes Sedai fighting each other, and Leane deflecting weaves away from Siuan and Alanna. The destruction and chaos in the Tower will have major ramifications for our characters in season 3.

River of red

Rand in a red coat in a river tinged by red

Rand, in a red coat, is standing in a river against a familiar backdrop. The river is tinted red, his hair is long and curly, and his face wears a crazed expression. Is this a vision, a dream, or a test? The scene immediately before makes us think this could be a scene from a Egwene’s Accepted test, which Madeleine Madden hinted at on her Instagram post from January 22.

Rhuidean

We know the season will most closely align with the fourth book in the series, The Shadow Rising. In the trailer, we see Rand walking through spears, Moiraine and Wise Ones with him, and later walking into a forest of tall glass columns. We heard a voiceover, “Each step forward is a step backwards through time.” Josha, hair longer and in a black vest walking through a stone hallway, a close up on modern looking black boots, could mean a scene from the Age of Legends. Later in the trailer, Josha (with a beard and longer, blonder hair) stands in a field of wheat wearing homespun clothing. He looks shocked or appalled at what he is witnessing. And, since in the teaser we see Josha as, presumably, Janduin, this makes us believe that we will see at least three steps through the columns, showing us the history of Rand’s, and the Aiel’s, lineage.

Apple blossoms

Perrin, with apple blossoms in the background, looking to his right.

Perrin starts the trailer with a smile. But what is The Wheel of Time without balance? Our hearts break a bit to see Perrin surrounded by apple blossoms. Is he there to grieve Laila? Or is there more tragedy in store for our favorite Wolfbrother? Alanna appears in the scene, also in mourning, which has some of our team a little concerned for what this scene might represent.

Creepy & Compelling

Nynaeve stares gently into Moghedien’s face, as the Forsaken gently strokes her face with blackened fingers. We are stoked to see the iconic duo together, but Moggy’s soft giggle has us a little scared.

More Moiraines

Moiraine as Amyrlin, circling Rand on his knees in the Hall of the Tower wearing a fancy red coat

In the teaser we saw many shots of Moiraine, in varying states of distress. In the trailer, we see even more Moiraines. The swiftly rotating camera possibly signaling the “thousand futures” she will see in the rings of Rhuidean. We hope to get some good behind the scenes content on how these scenes were filmed.

We see her as Amyrlin, circling a red-coated Rand on his knees in the Hall. He looks scared as sitters look on and a Keeper (who looks a lot like Egwene) stands close by. In another shot, Moiraine is in purple, prostrating herself in from of Rand as he watches, sitting within a circle of colorfully clad folk. Another scene shows Lan and Moiraine in a field, a weave around them, reminiscent of their bonding in Falme.

A few shots from the teaser are included, like Lanfear choking Moiraine in the desert. But, we also see Lanfear with a sword stabbing downward towards Moiraine. We get another quick shot of the evil EF5, making us think that the person crawling on the ground in the Ways is Moiraine.

Rings

In a a gorgeous shot of three tilted rings, we see both Moiraine and Aviendha suspended in air between them. The rings are surrounded by fog and both women look as if they are floating in mid-air. This scene combined with others have us wondering how the balance of real world scenes vs alternative reality scenes will tip throughout the season. And we are so excited to find out.

Dual-wielding

Speaking of Aviendha, the trailer has us even more ready to see how the show develops her story more deeply in season 3. Blink and you may miss a veiled Aviendha, weaving a spear of fire, a spear of air in her other hand, a possible third weave appearing as the shot changes. The setting could be Cold Rocks Hold, and her triangular top looks very familiar to one we see Egwene wearing in other scenes.

Faile fights

Readers know to be ready for a battle in the Two Rivers. But a quick sequence around the 36 second mark shows Perrin fighting a Trolloc, with a short-haired woman fighting behind him. We think this is Faile, fighting alongside Perrin to protect the Two Rivers. Later in the trailer, you can see her with other archers, ready for the oncoming horde of Trollocs and Darkfriends.

Women with spears

We are excited for the Aiel, but this shot seems to be a line of all women, likely in the Two Rivers, wielding spears behind wooden shields. Bain and Chiad must be good teachers. We like the echo to Daise Congar and the other women of the village taking down a Trolloc with whatever sharp iterms were handy in season 1, episode 1.

Running

Loial, Bain, Chiad running through the woods

Loial, Bain, and Chiad run through the woods. Loial is holding a weapon and the Maidens are both veiled. Remember, “anger the Ogier and bring mountains down on your head.”

Aragorn?

In a short scene, we see a hooded figure throw open two large doors, letting a bright light into a stone room. Is this Tanchico? A vision or step through time? Another world, experienced only through a special doorway? Or daytime Helm’s Deep? We cannot wait to find out.

Season 3

The series stars Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Dónal Finn, Ceara Coveney, Kate Fleetwood, Natasha O’Keeffe, Sophie Okonedo, Priyanka Bose, Taylor Napier, Ayoola Smart, Hammed Animashaun, Laia Costa, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Isabella Bucceri, Olivia Williams, Jennifer Cheon Garcia, Meera Syal, Kae Alexander, Johann Myers, and Jay Duffy.

Fans: How many of Moiraine’s 12 outfits can we spot in the teaser and trailer?
