Episode 4 of The Wheel of Time Season 3 will air on March 20, 2025 at midnight Pacific Time (7:00 UTC). In-world, the stakes couldn’t be any higher for this episode. This is the season’s midpoint episode where Rand stands to take a major step in his prophesied role as champion for the Light. It is a pivotal turn in the story that weaves one of the major forces in The Wheel of Time, the Aiel, into the narrative. Out-of-world, this episode is of great importance as well. It tackles some of the most celebrated and loved chapters from Robert Jordan’s book series, namely “Road to the Spear” and “The Dedicated.” How it is received by fans (book and show-only fans alike) is important. The first three episodes of Season 3 have been very well received by viewers and critics. If this episode delivers for both book fans and show-only viewers, it could provide the show with a much-needed boost in securing a renewal from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon for a fourth season.
WotSeries will publish a full recap and review of the episode when it’s released. For now, since we published our review of the entire season last week, we can say that we viewed the season in its entirety favorably, and believe this next episode was a catalyst in our outlook. Thematically, we are placing the proverbial burden on the Dragon Reborn’s shoulders. And Josha Stradowski’s performance this season was a highlight. So if this episode doesn’t stick its landing, it will not be due to Josha’s performance, nor that of the rest of the cast. The portrayal of the Aiel in Season 3 has been masterful. It is also important to note that the writing has been strong across the season and this episode was no difference, except here expect to see the most faithful adaptation of the original text we’ve seen in the show so far.

Today The Wheel of Time official show social media accounts shared a revealing 50 second preview of “The Road to the Spear”, Episode 4 of Season 3, which was written for television by showrunner, Rafe Judkins. “We approach Rhuidean now. All clan chiefs must go,” we can hear Rhuarc tell Rand. Followed by Melaine explaining to Rand that “In the glass columns you will walk the footsteps of your blood ancestors.” Bair also tells Moiraine about the three rings in Rhuidean. The preview also shows Rand as different people, one of them Janduin (his biological father). All of this information tells the viewer that Episode 4 will show us what we’ve expected: Rand will see the history of the Aiel through the eyes of his ancestors. Moiraine will see her “thousand thousand futures.”

Annoying that they say released on the 20th but it’s actually the 21st as it is available at midnight…
